Dear Phoenix team,
I just wanted to send you an email to thank you so much for the two donations you’ve made possible and for everything you’ve done to provide an education to girls in Sierra Leone and Uganda and to raise awareness of One Girl. The combined generosity of you, the fifty ladies that attended the luncheon in Canowindra and the Forbes Council will have a lasting impact.
To give you an idea of what it can achieve, it can pay for a year’s education for three One Girl scholars and provide them with everything they need for school such as uniforms, shoes, school bag, books and more. Or it can put 10 girls through our Business Brains training which equips girls with the business skills and financial literacy required to set up their own small businesses so they can help support themselves and their families while they’re studying and also after they graduate.
These skills are particularly useful considering that high rates of unemployment in Sierra Leone mean that most girls won’t be offered a typical ‘job’ upon leaving school. Please let the luncheon attendees and the Forbes Council know how grateful we are for their support.
Lastly – you mention that you and other members of the community might be interested in supporting our Do It In A Dress campaign, which we’d love! The campaign will launch in August and we’d be more than happy to help you find ways to raise money if you’re interested.
Thanks again
Katy, Chantelle, and the rest of the One Girl team.
