Dear Editor,
Thank you for the invitation to comment on the closure of the NAB, the last of the Big Four to turn their backs on the active
Canowindra Community. This day was inevitable and the intention of the NAB has been known for years. My suggestion to the Community is to revisit the Community Bank Model. The massive benefit that a Community Bank would have is the competitive
Commercial Rental rates that are paid in the CBD.
There are plenty of piggy banks around trying to fill the void left by the Big 4 and they tend to come and go. A Community Bank, when established has community ownership, long term livelihood and ability to invest its share of profits back into the community under the guidance of the locally appointed Directors.
Regards,
Tony Hardman
