Hello Readers,
The Phoenix would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the lovely visitors that are in town this week for the Balloon Challenge. It is so wonderful to see our little village a buzz each day with people. The Balloon Challenge week really is a great event for our little town with many economic benefits to all local businesses.
Canowindra is the Wiradjuri word for ‘home’ and we hope that is what it becomes for all the visitors whilst staying in our beautiful town.
Each morning and afternoon this week Canowindra will be a buzz with balloons filling the skies. It is well worth waking up early to be delighted with views like no other, with colourful arrays of balloons floating overhead and the roar of the flames to keep them afloat is a sound like no other.
After chasing the balloons around the country roads there are many things to explore in our iconic and historic little village. The famous bendy Main St called Gaskill St is filled with cafes, shops and pubs. It is also home to the Age of Fishes Museum showcasing the 360 million year old fossils found just outside of Canowindra.
Canowindra is a rich farming area with many vineyards and local produce grown in the region. Make sure you sample some of the lovely local produce and fine wine on offer.
We hope you enjoy this bumper 16 page Special Edition of the Phoenix and also enjoy your stay!
