New Editor of the Canowindra Phoenix Verity Middleton
Dear readers,
As the year comes to a speedy close, the Canowindra Phoenix shuts up shop for a month. This is our last issue for the year and it’s a big one.
Despite the year’s difficult start with drought and bushfires and slow middle with the start of COVID lockdowns and months of uneasy changes to our lifestyles, the end of the year has seen some emotional reprieve as COVID restrictions have started to roll back across the country. You can feel the hope for the new year across Canowindra with the bountiful harvest lifting spirits.
If you had told me last year in the midst of the terrible drought that it would come to an end so decidedly, I would never have believed you. So too I would never have believed how thoroughly life would change. It’s easier now that we have had some practice and while uncertainty always lies in the future with a vaccine on the way 2021 is looking brighter.
The new year will see Zoe Smith entirely take over Roselea Rowston’s sales manager position here at the Canowindra Phoenix. We have all been working together the past three weeks and it has been wonderful to take a crash course in the Phoenix.
Next year Zoe and I will be on our own as Roselea takes maternity leave. Roie has been an exemplary worker, even taking on a general managing position in her six years at the Phoenix and it is with sadness we say farewell. From the team at the Canowindra Phoenix: congratulations on your pregnancy, Roie. We hope for a smooth delivery!
Zoe and I will open the Canowindra Phoenix office again on Monday, 18th January. Have a very merry and safe Christmas.
Your editor,
Verity
