Canowindra is the Wiradjuri word for ‘home’ and we hope that is what it becomes for you while on your stay in our beautiful town.
Canowindra will be a buzz with balloons filling the skies in the early hours of the morning. Awake early to be delighted with views like no other, colourful arrays of balloons float over head and the roar of the flames to keep them afloat is an experi- ence like no other.
After chasing the balloons to capture the picture perfect moment spend the rest of your day exploring our iconic little village. Dating back to the 19th century our bendy street takes you back in time.
Call into our many pubs and cafes available and enjoy a country style home cooked meal and coffee, you won’t be disappointed.
Delve into history a bit more and visit the only dedicated fish fossil museum in the southern hemisphere, The Age of Fishes Museum. The 360 million year old fossils were found here in our backyard.
Wander down the main street and you will soon understand what all the fuss is about with the friendly locals making you feel quite at home. A community that form together like no other you will be sure to love the locals as much as we do.
While enjoying all of what Canowindra has to offer be sure to go on a drive to enjoy the scenic country side. Canowindra is mostly made up of a farming community with the rich soil being perfect for vineyards and pastures. While on your stay really immerse yourself in our culture by enjoying some of our local produce and wine.
Our home is now your home. Enjoy your stay!
