Let’s get together and purchase a defibrillator and oxy resuscitation kit for the Oval!

2 April, 2014 By editor

AED (1)

The Canowindra Phoenix along with Jarrod and Lisa Strange from the Swimming Pool are initiating a community campaign to raise $3,500 to purchase a defibrillator and oxy resuscitation kit for the Oval.

The Swimming Pool has one, and it was very much in need recently. Yet despite many of us and our children using the Oval – especially during both football seasons and for little A’s – there is not one on hand at this facility. But we can change that! By securing prizes to be raffled and encouraging local businesses to donate to the cause, our $3,500 target is certainly achievable.

Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on a casualty can be vital to their survival. An AED delivers measured electric shocks to attempt to restore the heart to a normal effective rhythm. Each minute that passes before an AED is used decreases a casualty’s chance of survival.

The prizes:

Tickets are $2 each. They are available in groups of 5 ($10 min) or 10 (for $20) from The Phoenix office in Gaskill Street. If any other local businesses are interested in selling tickets for us or donating prizes for the raffle, please let us know. You’re help is much appreciated.

The Canowindra Phoenix would like to ‘kick start’ the campaign with a donation for $100 – and we challenge other local businesses to do the same. That’s only $3,400 to go!

Let’s go Canowindra, it’s for a good cause.

You never know when we’ll need a defibrillator at the Oval!

The raffle will be drawn on 17th April and results will be published on Facebook and in The Phoenix.

TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE SWIMMING POOL AND THE PHOENIX OFFICE.
