Canowindra hosted a spectacular League Tag carnival on Saturday with teams coming from all over the district.
Bathurst St Pats came away with the win claiming back to back Western Challenge titles. In a hard fought final they overcame Orange Hawks 10-0. Sarah Watterson from St Pats was the player of the tournament.
Earlier in the day Blayney looked to have booked themselves a spot in the final when Olivia Bird kicked a field goal to lead 1 nil before the Hawkes got one over the line to win 4-1.
St Pats defeated Parkes in the other semi final 6-0.
For the Woodbridge Cup sides Manildra were only a whisker away from making the finals with 3 wins.
The New Era cup sides put on a good show claiming 4 wins between them. Dubbo Macquarie were easily the most improved team.
Orange Cyms probably the unluckiest team missing out on a semi final spot on a for and against count back after finishing their pool equal with Parkes.
Canowindra Tigeresses played well all day and continued to improve each game.
A big thank you to the Woodbridge Cup Referees association for their time and commitment in officiating on the day. A very professional job with lots of positive feedback from everyone.
Andrew Pull one of the organisers for the event said, “Congratulations to all teams on their skill, competitiveness and great sportsmanship. I hope you have great seasons in your competitions!”
