Lawrence’s IGA Gift To Local Schools

27 February, 2020 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Director of Canowindra Pre-School, Liz Francis accepts a cheque from Lawrence’s IGA Canowindra Store Manager Peter Watt and Michelle Fisher.

Lawrence’s IGA in Canowindra continues to give back to the community through their Community Chest Program, raising $4,338.16 this year.

This year’s beneficiaries were Canowindra Public School, Canowindra High School, Canowindra Pre-School and St Edward’s Primary School, who each received a cheque for $1,084.54.

All recipients were overwhelmed with the support received from Lawrence’s IGA and the community and want to thank John Lawrence and his hard working team.

Principal from Canowindra High School, Neryle Smurthwaite said “We will be putting this money into our daily breakfast program which is available to all students.”

St Edward’s Primary School will put the donation towards the beautification of the front entrance of the school and bench seating for students and parents.

Sharon Hawker, Principal at Canowindra Public School said “We are excited to be putting the money towards four new interactive boards for classrooms which are being installed this week.”

The Canowindra Pre-School will spend the funds on a cooking program with the purchase of appliances, utensils and everything teacher Katie Kelly has been patiently wishing and waiting for. “Katie has been sharing her appliances from home. We are all so excited and thrilled with Johnny’s generous donation. Thank you to IGA and the community that supports Lawrence’s IGA in Canowindra,” said Liz Francis, Director at Canowindra Pre-School.

John Lawrence was pleased to hear that they could make such a difference through the Community Chest Program, where people have either bought community chest products or specials throughout the year.
