Land.Care – New Exhibition Explores Art And Science As Tools For Discussing Environmental Issues

14 October, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Mid-Lachlan Landcare Coordinator, Amanda Foxon-Hill introducing the exhibition.

Last week, Mid-Lachlan Landcare Coordinators, Amanda Foxon-Hill and Scott Hickman officially opened the Land.Care exhibition at Cowra’s Little Magpie Gallery.

The exhibition features work from 25 exhibiting artists from across the Central West and from Canberra, Sydney, the Sunshine Coast and Narrabri, all of whom responded to the call out for works that explored the theme of ‘art and science as powerful tools for discussing environmental issues’.

Inel from Little Magpie worked with our Landcare representative Ken from Cowra’s Micro Gallery to curate the show and both artists work is featured showcasing their different yet complimentary responses to the landscape surrounding us.

On the evening, Mid-Lachlan Landcare Coordinator, Amanda Foxon-Hill spoke about how art and science can be conceptualised as different tools we can use to engage, explore and make sense of our surrounds.

“Landcare is a wonderful vessel within which we create space and set-aside time to nurture our relationship with ourselves, other people and the spaces we care deeply about,” said Ms Foxon-Hill.

The exhibition will run until 15 November and it’s well worth a look if you’re in Cowra in the coming weeks.
