Ladies Golf

20 July, 2016 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The fourth monthly medal and putting was played on 13th July in strong headwinds and a hint of sunshine, heavy conditions and a little more local water than usual. Annette won the monthly medal, Rhonda won the Stableford and Eileen won the putting.

Due to the wet weather, the Pennants against West Wyalong was postponed several times but was finally contested at West Wyalong. The home team were just too strong and more comfortable with the wet conditions and convincingly won the day and the round.

WDLGA 4BBB Vs Par event was held 29/6/16 with a very excited combination of Annette Thomas and Maria Agustin winning with +4, and Joyce & Julie a close second with +3. The finals will be contested at Tottenham on the 19th August. Canowindra had 6 ladies who were able to play in the Cowra tournament. Cowra is a great course to play and they had two days of fine weather then a very cold & wet Friday for the foursomes. Nevertheless, Wednesday Joyce had a Nearest the Pin and Thursday saw Annette win A grade Handicap, Julie win B grade scratch as well as two nearest the pins. The partnership of Julie & Joyce come in as Runner Up for the foursomes on Friday.

8/6/16 Veterans Championship: Div 1 Annette Thomas 100 Scratch, R/U Julie Fairley 82 Nett, Div 2 Eileen Wilson 104 Scratch, R/U Joyce Middleton 83 Nett, Div3 Edna Hughes 129 scratch, R/U Ann Cassidy 92 Nett, Senior Vet Helen Constable 87 Nett. Our daily winners were; A grade Annette with 81 Nett and Joyce with 83 Nett, Ball sweep Edna & lucky wheel Margie Sharpe.

The next match play will soon be underway as well as the Canowindra Foursomes Championships being held over two days of 27 holes.
