Keep Shining

29 October, 2014 By editor

light the night
This has been a big thing to organise but with the committee I think we’ve nailed it. I wasn’t sure if I could organise this event but after suggesting a walk around the oval Felicity said, “that sounds ok but don’t overdo it!” From there I talked to Max from the Lions Club about a BBQ and they approved. Max said I was brave for doing this but I wanted to do something for the Leukaemia Foundation and also to thank Canowindra people for their thoughtfulness when I was sick.
My cancer began as a pain in my left side. They eventually told me I had Lymphoma and I had 6 lots of chemo which made me very sick. That was 12 months ago and I haven’t been well again so Im back on chemo. I live one day at a time with lots of hugs, which is wonderful therapy.
Thanks to the Lions Club, Ken for the PA system, Anthony Durkin for getting the Oval mowed, the police for keeping an eye. Thanks to the Phoenix, Canowindra News, Prime, Win and 2GZ, to Geoff Beath for the truck, Tommy Jeffs for the window, Johnny and the IGA girls.
Thanks to the craft shop, to the Preschool children, to everyone who sold tickets in the street, to Tim at Duck IT for his patience with me. Thanks to the Services Club for their support, to Rev Jono, Dr Kumar, Dr Dunkley and Dr O’Ryan, to the girl at the Health Centre. My committee team have been marvellous. My dream has come true. I wanted to do something for cancer and this was it. Cindy, we did it…”Light The Night” was emotional for me and I hope what we’ve raised will help. Keep your lanterns shining at home, well done Canowindra and all that supported this event.
Around $9000 has been raised so far for the Leukaemia Foundation. PRIZEWINNERS-Please pick up your prizes from 55 Rodd Street, Canowindra before Monday 3rd November.
