Parkes itself is an excellent base for exploring the Central West region, and has an interesting bushranger history and a long tradition as a goldmining centre. Explore the abundance of things to do in the Parkes area, and consider scheduling your visit during one of the fabulous events. Elvis Presley fans should look out for the annual Parkes Elvis Festival, which attracts more than 18,000 visitors, so be sure to have your accommodation sorted. Roustabout is the theme that has been announced for the 2015 Parkes Elvis Festival which will take place from the 7-11 January in Parkes, NSW for the 23rd consecutive year

The impressive Henry Parkes Centre, a tourism complex located on the northern side of town, incorporates the Parkes Visitor Information Centre, the King’s Castle Elvis Exhibit, the Parkes Motor Museum (featuring Elvis’ Cadillac) and the Parkes Local History Museum and Pioneer Park Antique Machinery Museum. The King’s Castle Elvis Exhibit is a unique collection of original Elvis memorabilia owned by Greg Page. The exhibition displays genuine Elvis artefacts which were owned by Elvis or directly connected to his life and are on display in this magnificent exhibition telling the story of the on (and off) stage life of one of the world’s greatest entertainers.
Parkes Motor Museum houses an impressive collection of motor vehicles representing all heritages motoring eras.
The Henry Parkes Museum and Antique Machinery Exhibit depict early life in Parkes through objects, photos and historical information. The Society holds the Annual Tractor Start-up Day in March/April each year.

Parkes has an abundance of shopping including 141 On Main which stocks the most amazing hot funky labels from top designers including Wish, Mink Pink, I Love Billy, Bluejuice and more. 141 strives on providing customers with the ultimate shopping experience and ensures they leave feeling amazing, confident and most of all, happy!

There is also Nangar Gems that is family owned and operated with 25 years of experience! The jewellery store stocks some of the best brands including Pandora, Thomas Sabo, Najo, Police, Yukon, Miabelle, Missie Von Lubbe and Homage Personalised Jewellery. They were awarded the Best Retailer for Parkes Store in 2008 and currently have an online outlet that you can further explore once you have left.
