Junior Pythons

3 May, 2017 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Canowindra Junior Pythons officially started their season last weekend at the Orange Emus Gala Day. It was a perfect day for playing and watching rugby and all 3 teams did our club proud.

Under 7’s

Under 7’s had a great first game, with lots of new players this year coach Dom Townsend had his hands full guiding the team around the field but the day ended with big smiles and everyone keen to do it again so we are looking forward to seeing these young players get better and have fun each week.

Under 11’s

Due to the majority of last years Under 11’s moving on to our Under 13’s team, this year our Under 11 Pythons have joined forces with the Milthorpe Mozzies. This joint ven- ture not only allows our boys to play the game they love, but will also form a strong bond & friendship between our two towns. Coach Matt Rice said, it follows in the ideals of Rugby: we play hard but fair against our opponents on the field, and are the best of mates off the field.

Thanks to Hassad Australia for sponsor- ing our Player of the Week, this week its Under 11’s, Will Pearce and Mitch Ste- phens for their awesome efforts in tackling and making good yards in offense.

Under 13’s

The Under 13 Pythons/Cowra team had a big hit out in Cowra on Saturday and were set a formidable task against a much bigger Parkes team. The boys played out of their boots and smashed Parkes 35 – 5, with our own Dylan Slattery scoring 2 tries. Canow- indra coach Rolls Townsend said the team is coming together really well and everyone is giving 110% every week.

Next week the Under 13’s travel to Dubbo, while the Walla teams have the week off.
