This season Canowindra Junior Cricket are fielding two stage 2 sides, Canowindra Services Club and Canowindra Tyre Service. Cricket kicked off the season last Saturday with Services Club playing the Grenfell Eels, which resulted in a win for our kids. The Tyre Service team had the bye and will start the season against Grenfell Eels this weekend.
With a beautiful but breezy Saturday, the Canowindra kids won the toss thanks to Captain Nellie and elected to bat. Some great batting performances from Bailey, Hayden, Toby and Nellie put the team in a great spot, with newest recruits Tyler, Jay, Connor and Darius the team totalled 124 runs.
The bowling was solid with extras being kept to a minimum and the wickets went to Bailey, Toby, Hayden and Darius. In the field, Kynan was great at wicket keeper and everyone fielded well. Player of the week was Tyler Burn for determination, good batting and quote of the week – as Darius made his way out to the crease Tyler yelled “Come on Darius LETS GET SOME”.
This week Services Club travel to Cowra and Tyre Service head to Grenfell.
