Junior Cricket

16 March, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

A warm, humid morning greeted players and spectators to Raudonikis oval where Canowindra took on Cowra Thunder on 6th March.

An outstanding start was made by Canowindra openers Spencer and Campbell. They both defended the balls that needed defending and mixed aggressive hitting with excellent running. A feature of their time together was several well judged singles.

Harry, Sam Breen, Sam Marcrow and Annie kept the innings going and defended well against some high-quality bowling. Canowindra compiled a solid total of 108.

The Canowindra teams approach to fielding was on show. Examples of players backing up the stumps and completing efficient relay throws were noted by spectators and coaches alike.

The strong batting lineup of the Thunder ran out of overs in their run chase with a score of 72.

Player of the game was Campbell Arnott. Captain Burg had a fine innings of 33 runs in as many balls with 5 boundaries. He landed fine leg spinners from his first delivery and led the team well.

Team player award went to Spencer Marcrow. 30 runs, a solid stint of wicket keeping and bowling was an excellent way for Spencer to complete his preparation for representative duties at Ballina this week. All of us wish Spencer good luck.
