Junior Cricket

10 March, 2022 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The Canowindra Tyre Service Stage 2 players hosted the Cowra Renegades in Canowindra last Saturday. A moment’s silence was observed prior to the match to pay respects to Rodney Marsh and Shane Warne, two players that helped shape modern day cricket.

Canowindra batted first with all players flashing the willow with more confidence than previous matches. However, the communication whilst running between the wickets will need some fine tuning at training. One exception though, was the in-sync partnership between our two ladies, perhaps Annie Wooldgrige and Lucy Atkinson will assist Ollie in helping the boys to recognise the benefits of calling early.

Encouragement Award this week went to Spencer Douglass for his batting and much improved bowling. While Max Douglass took out the Player of the Week for his batting. Like all the players in recent weeks, it is very pleasing to see their skills progressing and in particular, the shot selections being made on the merits of the delivery.
