Junior Cricket

24 October, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The first games for the season were played on Saturday with both Stage 2 and 3 travelling to Grenfell to play.

It was an outstanding opening game for the Stage 2 Canowindra Tyre Service team against Grenfell at their home ground. Marcus, Toby, Jay, Jack and Darius all got wickets. Jay and Jack were great on the pitch with many runs which was exciting to watch. We welcome Knox, Max, Charlie and Nate this season who all bring many skills to our team. Players player was awarded to Jack Smyth and the Encouragement award was given to Knox Breen. Looking forward to a great season of cricket.

The Stage 3 Canowindra Services Club team also played Grenfell at Lawson Oval. It was a tough ask for the younger Canowindra side to face a very experienced Grenfell team, but the boys put in 110% effort and stayed competitive the whole match. In the end the boys were beaten as they could not haul in the run chase of 184 that was needed. Player of the week for an out- standing all round performance was Hugh Breen.
