Junior Cricket

6 March, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Last Saturday Canowindra Tyre Service’s season came to an end with the final round match against Cowra Sixers. With a win of the toss and sending the opposition in to bat our bowlers had to bowl line and length. Toby provided our bowling highlight taking his first wicket for the season and continuing his skill improvement. Beau, Riley and Jack all bowled well but could not prevent Cowra reaching 2/117 off 20 overs.

Knowing that we were going to have to put in a big effort to reach the total our batsman too often went for the big shot getting bowled or caught. Marcus was defiant in not yielding to some good bowling and fielding, with Mitch S, Jack and Fraser trying to hold up an end. We finally succumb to be all out for 29.

The Canowindra Service’s Club encouragement award went to Jack Smyth for solid bowling effort and a sharp catch. The Canowindra Tyre Service Player of the Week went to Marcus Wythes for enthusiastic fielding and not giving his wicket away against some very good bowling.

It has been a pleasure to coach a side which has enjoyed their cricket, played in the right sprit of the game, encouraged each other and had fun. Thank you to the ladies for scoring and those who helped out at training.
