Two Canowindra students have been recognised amongst the finest artists in our region at the 2024 Cabonne Acquisitive Art Prize Exhibition presentation, held last Thursday 25th July at the Cabonne Community Centre in Molong.
Callie Wright received third prize for her paint and pour painting, and Elizabeth Jones received an award for her pastel of Uluru.
Art Mentor Sue Hodge said, “I am so proud that two students, from this year’s Art Mentoring class, won awards at the Cabonne Art Prize.”
During term two each year, local artist Sue Hodge runs 10 art mentoring sessions for local school students. This year she had a lovely group of eight girls who met weekly to learn a variety of art mediums. In addition to holding their own exhibition at the Canowindra Services Club, each student was able to enter one work in the Cabonne Acquisitional prize.
“This is the eighth year Art Mentoring has been running. Each year I really enjoy it, and I think the students do too. As a teacher I really want to find what area of art the student can excel in.
“Callie and Elizabeth received awards on the night but in my opinion all the students were winners,” said Sue Hodge.
