Jessica Jenkins, a previous Editor of the Canowindra Phoenix, has taken on an incredible new career with Mid-Western Regional Council as their Business Graduate, assisting a team of managers in economic development, communications and events.
After relocating to Mudgee for the position 6 weeks ago, Jess is enjoying the exciting opportunity, and her new Mudgee lifestyle.
“I’m settling in really well. I’ve lived in Canowindra my whole life so it’s great to have some different scenery,” said Jess. “It’s really beautiful here in Mudgee.”
Jess’ new job involves helping with the Corporate Directorate of the Council, assisting with marketing and promotional activities, conducting research on issues and projects, assisting the Events Co-ordinator, supporting the Communications Officer, looking into grant applications and even helping to produce a community newsletter which is sent out to 9000 residents.
Jess applied for the position after hearing from her sister how beautiful Mudgee is, and hasn’t regretted the move. “It was really scary and exciting but everyone here is lovely and amazing. I do miss friends and family, and Mum’s cooking, but it’s nice to be out on my own.”
After exploring the many opportunities available to her at Mudgee, Jess hopes to get a taste of living on the coast, and to travel overseas. “I’ll move back to Canowindra one day though, that’s where my home is.”
