Cabonne Deputy Mayor, Jamie Jones will be seeking re-election at the upcoming Council elections, marking a commitment to continue to serve the people of Cabonne.
Jamie Jones said if re-elected, he will continue to listen to and work with the community to build a stronger Cabonne.
“It has been a tremendous honour to serve the community and I am asking for their continued support to build on the progress that has already been made,” Mr Jones said.
“Cabonne is made up of a number of towns, villages and localities; I remain dedicated to ensuring a fair share of funding and services for all areas of the shire.
“I have a proven track record of delivery.
Over the past seven years, I have championed and supported several initiatives, including road maintenance and repairs, town beautification and activation projects, new footpaths, upgrades to parks, sporting facilities, community halls, and showgrounds as well as a temporary community children’s centre in Eugowra after the flood destroyed the previous facility.
“I have also stood with our communities during the devastating 2022 floods, and been a strong advocate for funding to assist with recovery and mitigation, including Chairing the Cabonne Eugowra Recovery Advisory Committee.”
If elected, Jamie Jones lists his key priorities as:
• Funding for maintenance and upgrades to Cabonne’s road network, including Lake Canobolas Road and Gumble Road
• Flood recovery, including a rebuild of community assets Flood mitigation, improved drainage and early warning systems
• Building new footpaths that cater to the needs of all pedestrians
• Upgrades to water and sewer infrastructure to provide safe and reliable water supply, support future development and water security
• Support for community organisations and groups, tourism and economic development initiatives.
Born and raised in Cabonne, Jamie Jones was first elected to Council in September 2017 and has served as the Deputy Mayor since September 2019.
He is also a volunteer with the NSW Rural Fire Service and was on the ground assisting with sandbagging, evacuating residents and their pets and cleaning up following the worst flooding event in Cabonne’s history.
“As a younger member of the Council who is also raising a family, I offer a unique perspective that helps me connect with the needs of families in our community,” Mr Jones said.
“I have the experience and skills needed to ensure Council lives within its means while promoting innovative ideas to ensure Cabonne remains a great place to live, invest and work.”
Cabonne Council elections will be held on Saturday, 14 September 2024.
