Introducing ‘Local Thursdays’ At The Old Vic’s Bessie’s Bar

16 September, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Bessies Bar staff member Molly Statham and Manager Cat Cullen; Right: New owners, Alex and Maddi.

Exciting changes are brewing at The Old Vic, where new owners Alex and Maddi are ushering in a vibrant fresh chapter for the iconic venue.

Stepping in to lead the front of house is Manager Cat Cullen, who is heading up the team at Bessie’s Bar with a focus on warm hospitality, great food, and bringing people together.

To celebrate the new team, new owners and to welcome the community, Bessie’s Bar is officially launching “Local Thursdays”—a dedicated weekly spot designed to make your mid-week dining out both affordable and special.

Every Thursday evening, the kitchen will showcase its full menu of hearty, delicious mains. To welcome diners, every main meal ordered comes with a complimentary glass of house wine or beer. The hospitality does not end with the savory courses, either—to make the evening even sweeter, all desserts on the menu will be offered at half price.

Whether you are craving a hearty meal, a crisp cold drink, or a cozy slice of something sweet after dinner, it is the ultimate excuse to skip cooking and let the team look after you.

Owners Alex, and Maddi together with Cat, are deeply passionate about creating a welcoming, relaxed environment where locals can catch up with old friends, unwind after work, or meet their neighbors over a fantastic meal. As new stewards of the historic venue, they are eager to open the doors wider than ever.

Gather your family and friends, head down to The Old Vic this Thursday, and enjoy exceptional food, great company, and true local hospitality right in the heart of town.
