On Saturday April 7th the Holy Royal Arch Chapter of Robert Russel King that meets only six times a year gathered at the Canowindra
Lodge to change and install new Principles. The Holy Royal Arch is one of many orders of the Freemasons and regardless of what lodge they represent the Masons present are all considered to be equal. The women’s equivalent of the Masons is the order of the Eastern Star. To be a Freemason you must believe in a higher being however it doesn’t necessarily have to be God. There were visitors from Picton, Moruya, Parkes and Bathurst lodges as well as other state chapters from their respected lodges.
The installation acknowledged the incoming 1st Principle and the outgoing 1st Principle with the election of office lasting 12 months. The incoming 1st Principle was local Patrick Fitzgerald with the outgoing 1st Principle being Cowra local Ron Webb. As part of the installation the master makes obligations to perform his duties as the Masons are about making good people better.
Important roles and installations:
• Grand Chapter Representative: Michael-Freeman Robinson
• 1st Principle: Patrick Fitzgerald
• 2nd Principle: Sam Beattie
• 3rd Principle Outgoing 1st: Ron Webb
• Director of Ceremonies: David Francis
After the installation the Masons proceeded to the Canowindra Golf Club for a celebratory Banquet and a few drinks. The Freemasons are always open to those interested in Freemasonry and if interested contact details are posted on a board outside the Canowindra Lodge opposite St Edwards School in Blatchford St.
