The weeks of waiting are finally over for the class of 2014 and their teachers with the release this Wednesday of the Higher School Certificate results and Merit List for Distinguisher Achievers!
The results were received with a range of emotions for the twenty seven students from Canowindra High School who successfully studied and completed their HSC across twenty four courses. The best performances for the school were recorded in Design and Technology, Business Studies, Industrial Technology and Music, where students achieved a total of 7 band 6’s and 12 band 5’s. Biology, Standard English and Agriculture results were also worthy of mention.
Overall the results were solid and complimented the student’s previous success in being recognised with major awards at the school’s Annual Presentation Night and gaining early entry to a range of universities. Across all subjects many of the students achieved their personal best and are to be congratulated for their commitment and hard work. On an individual level four students, who were previously acknowledged for the quality of their major projects through nomination for InTech 2015 and DesignTech 2015, were also recognised on the Merit List as distinguished achievers – Tim Middleton for Design and Technology, Business Studies and Industrial Technology; Cormac Lamond for Design and Technology; Sam McKenzie for Design and Technology and Industrial Technology; and, Talby Upton for Design and Technology. These students also achieved sound results in their other subjects along with Luke Wallace, Emily Price, Catherine Davis, Lucy Harrison and Taryn Robinson who achieved multiple band 5’s and 4’s.
The teachers are very pleased with the student’s performance and commend them for their success and achievement of the rewards of their study and preparation. For those intending to attend university the school is looking forward to now hearing of their success with gaining the required University Admissions Index (UAI.) Canowindra High also enjoyed a fantastic Presentation Night on Tuesday with a range of students being recognised and awarded for their talents, including Mckenzie Lazarou who sang ‘Please Don’t Say You Love Me’ by Gabrielle Aplin. Congratulations Canowindra High on a fantastic year!
