Josh Maynard is a remarkable 16-year-old singing guitarist who performed in public for the first time in April at the Cowra Home Grown, and won!
Born and bred in Cowra, Josh performs at Taste Canowindra each month as a part of the Folk@Canowindra. Josh has also performed at many talent quests including Henry Lawson, Canowindra Busking Competition and Parkes Country Music Festival, aways placing either first or second.
“I have been playing the guitar and singing for about three years, and really enjoy playing at Taste Canowindra as I can play my style of music, which varies between the country and pop/soul genre.”
His inspirations have been very vast but states that he has been heavily influenced by his father and other pop/soul artists.
“My father was a huge inspiration to me. Shane Howard heavily influenced my style of music as I believe he is one of the best Australian song writers. I also enjoy modern pop/soul artists like Adele, Jason Mraz and Ed Sheeran.”
Josh’s future aspirations are uncertain at this point but he would like to attend university and integrate music into anything he does. He would also like to see this small country region provide more opportunities for young people to perform.
