Tommy Jeffs mic’d up and ready for his close up!
Canowindra will be launched onto the international stage next month when Amazon’s television programme on the town, made by their LGBTQ+ subsidiary Glamazon, hits the internet. Glamazon is creating a series of episodes on LGBTQ+ friendly travel destinations around the world. After seeing local Tommy Jeffs on the Today Show in 2020 dressed as his alter ego, Tallulah, they put Canowindra at the top of their must see list!
Tommy was only too happy to welcome the large crew of 20 to his place, Montrose House and show them around our town. The crew were joined by popular Sydney drag queen Hannah Conda, who toured Montrose House and our main street. Being such a well-loved member of Canowindra, Tommy had no reservations about how welcoming Canowindra would be, though the crew were pleasantly surprised. “They were really impressed with the town,” Tommy said.
“Everyone here was really friendly as per usual. Glamazon is looking for country places besides Bowral and the Highlands that are safe for LGBTQ+ people to travel to and they came out here and people were saying hello to the drag queens and I said, ‘that happens all the time!’”
The programme will begin streaming throughout the world in February, bringing the delights of Canowindra and the inclusive feeling within the town right around the globe.
Along with the Glamazon series, Canowindra awaits its episode on Better Homes and Gardens and a write up in the Weekend Australian in the next month courtesy of Tommy.
