Harvest Community Church Commissioning Service

11 February, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Churches in rural Australia are finding it increasingly difficult to find any clergy, who are willing to support rural ministry. Recently, Harvest Community Church didn’t just commission a new Pastor, but multiple Pastors, as the George Family was formally welcomed into the region.

All Saints Anglican Church hosted the Commissioning Service for Senior Pastor Mick, a new Community Pastor, Tammy (Mick’s wife) and a Youth Pastor, Mischa (Mick and Tammy’s oldest daughter).Additionally, the service also recognised Mick and Tam’s other three children Talitha,Amos and Caleb, who have all voluntarily joined their parents, in what has been described as a Revitalisation Project by the Anglican Diocese of Bathurst.

Mick said during the service that his family have felt very welcomed in coming to town and already feel that they are ‘home’.”We have already begun to see the nature of the Revitalisation Project with the family hitting the ground running, organising the installation of split system air- conditioners/heaters in the church, big screen TV’s and had the driveway resurfaced,” said Mick.

Mick and the family also recently launched an anti-bullying program for kids aged 6-14 and a martial arts program for older teenagers and adults.

Mick said, “The program had a great start in its first week and already has some keen students.”

Training is every Monday and Wednesday 4:30-5:15pm for kids and 6-7pm for adults, in the Canowindra Church Hall. Call Mick on 0447 247 398 for details.

In the next couple of weeks Mick, along with St Edward’s Catholic Church will be conducting a massive pancake give-away to mark Shrove Tuesday. You will be able to pick-up some pancakes, free of charge, on Tuesday 17 February from 7:30am at one of three locations; in front of St Edward’s Catholic Church, the Primary School along Tilga Street and in front of All Saints Anglican Church.

Services at All Saints are every Sunday, starting at 10:30, all are welcome.

A large number of local residents were in attendance to welcome the George family.
