Last week saw two Canowindra girls head to Sydney to compete in Hammer Throw. Emily Thomas (U17’s and U20’s) and Lila McCaffery (U16’s) at the Australian Track and Field Championships.
Lila competed in the U16’s throwing 40.61m finishing 7th out of 15 girls. It was then Emily’s turn to compete in the U20’s throwing a massive 37.07m which was a 2m personal best, in this event the hammer is 4kg’s, Emily finished 12th out of 20.
Emily then threw a 3kg hammer in the U17’s. Emily threw a 44.79m and finished 4th out of 17 just missing out on the Bronze medal.
