For the past 27 months, the Bell, Knight and Macela families have worked for more than 1,000 hours along with volunteers from all parts of Sydney, Melbourne, Cowra and Orange on the construction of their new homes, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity was founded in the US in 1976 and it is now a global home-building mission comprised of more than 2,100 local affiliates and thousands of volunteers in over 90 countries including Australia.
Habitat for Humanity is a not-for-profit housing organisation that builds and renovates simple, safe, decent, affordable homes in partnership with low-income families in need. Every 4 minutes a family somewhere in the world has a better home thanks to Habitat for Humanity, its volunteers and partners.
“The hard work is all about to pay off for the Bell, Knight and Macela families,” says James Allardice, Habitat for Humanity Executive Director. “We invite you to come to the celebration, meet with the families and share the community spirit that 11 Preston Street Canowindra has to offer.”
This build has been made possible thanks to the support of QBE Insurance, Hanson Concrete, Cement Australia, Whirlpool, Stanley tools, Dulux, Hettich, Bunnings Hardware, James Isaacs Building Services and a host of other international, Australian and local business houses.
Habitat for Humanity would like to take this opportunity to thank all its sponsors who have made this project a possibility.
At 10am on Saturday the 14th of December at 11 Preston Street Canowindra, Habitat for Humanity will hand over the keys to the Bell, Knight and Macela families in a public celebration of their efforts. Habitat for Humanity invites everyone along to view this amazing project for themselves.
