This Saturday, 11th November at 2pm you are invited to the Cowra Regional Art Gallery for a special floor talk by guest speaker Peter Haynes – Consultant, Curator, Writer and Art Historian as he discusses the Calleen Art Award 2023 winning work Ritual Habitual 2 by Marie Hagerty.
“Canberra-based artist Marie Hagerty the winner of this year’s Calleen Art Award, is a worthy recipient of this important prize. Hagerty studied in Sydney before moving to Canberra to study at the (then) Canberra School of Art.
Since graduating in 1988 she has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group shows, including most recently in the National Gallery of Australia’s Know my Name. Her many awards include the Conrad Jupiter’s Art Prize (2005), the John McCaughey Memorial Prize (2004), the Capo Fellowship (2019), and the Ginninderry Drawing Prize (2022).
Her work is represented in many major collections including those of the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, the Canberra Museum and Gallery and Art Bank.” Peter Haynes.
