The Australian Government has announced a total of $600 million over a three-year period to drive regional economic prosperity by providing large-scale funding for capital-expenditure projects across Australia’s regional, rural and remote areas.
There are two stages:
• Stage 1: Expressions of Interest
• Stage 2: Full Application
The intended outcomes of Growing Regions include:
• The delivery of community-focused infrastructure which contributes and benefits local, regional priorities,
• Improving equity and supporting social inclusion, and
• Growing local economies and enhancing amenity and liveability in the regions.
• Eligible activities must relate to one of the following:
• Constructing new community infrastructure, or
• Expanding or upgrading existing infrastructure for wider community benefit.
• Examples of eligible activities include, but are not limited to:
• Community hubs and centres (e.g. youth centres, men’s sheds),
• Art galleries, libraries, museums and cultural facilities,
• Aquatic and sports centres, and
• Social and community infrastructure.
Funding amounts of $500,000 to $15,000,000 will be available, depending on entity or organisation type. Funding is being made available through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, and Department of Industry, Science and Resources.
