The Canowindra Balloon Challenge is back for 2022 and planning is well underway for the Canowindra Main Street Parade.
The Canowindra Main Street Parade will be held on Saturday 9th April from 9.30-12 noon with Tommy Jeffs leading the Parade.
“We want people to stay in Canowindra and we want the whole town to get involved. What has happened in the past is you have 2,000 people in town and there is not enough to do, so they go to Cowra and Orange and they spend their money there. We want them to stay in Canowindra and spend their money here,” said Tommy.
The committee has devised several activities to engage members of the community during the Saturday Street Parade. Children are encouraged to decorate bikes, with the winners being included in the parade.
There will be no shortage of entertainment on the day with the Wellington and Grenfell Town Bands performing, the Alikinetic and Torsion Dancers, antique cars and tractors and of course the balloonists and their balloons who will be participating in the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge. There will also be a Ben Hall re-enactment out the front of The Royal Hotel.
“We want to get local sporting bodies and schools who want to make a bit of money, to come down and set up a stall and sell some cakes and things like that,” continued Tommy.
The day’s events will flow into the Cabonne Community Glow, which kicks off at 3pm at the Canowindra Sporting Complex with James Johnston performing live.
