A fundraiser will be held in conjunction with the Beer and Food Tasting Night at the Tottenham Bowling Club on Friday 8th May in aid of Julie Simpson, an ex-Tottenham resident now living in Forbes.
Julie is a loving wife and mother who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) less than two years ago, a progressive and terminal disease, which attacks nerve cells in control of muscles we use to eat, swallow, breathe, speak, walk and dance. After diagnosis, the life expectancy for people with MND is 2-3 years. In Australia, 2 people a day are diagnosed with MND and there is no known cure or effective treatment.
Sadly, Julie is now confined to a wheelchair, requiring assistance with eating and breathing. After a recent stay in hospital, Julie is now home where she wants to be, and her husband Keith is her full-time helper. As the disease progresses, Julie requires additional nursing assistance to allow her to stay at home, further increasing medical expenses.
Events for the fundraiser include an auction and novelty events. Raffle tickets are now available at the Tottenham Bowling Club. Donations of goods and vouchers will be acknowledged and are greatly appreciated. Contact Nikki Simpson: mobile 0488293484 email nik_536@hotmail.com
