The St Edward’s P&F and students are excited about the garden beautification project funding.
The St Edward’s Primary School P&F have been successful in their application for a $1,000 grant from the Newcrest COVID-19 Community Support Fund.
The P&F were seeking funding to assist with the purchase of garden materials and plants to be used within the school’s beautification program.
The school will now be able to add new plants along with a watering system to the schools existing garden beds in early September.
“Obtaining this grant funding will allow us to proceed with the plan without having to ask our families to help with fundraising,” said Mandy Townsend P&F President.
All students, staff and their families will benefit as the school beautification program aims to brighten the outdoor areas making them a more aesthetically pleasing place to work and play, enhancing and developing a sense of connectedness and wellbeing.
The gardens will also be used as a teaching tool for students as they will be able to learn about how plants grow and how to look after the plants.
“Students will also become more aware about sustainability and their environment. They will also be able to see how plants form a crucial link in many life cycles,” said Mandy
