Dear readers,
The end of year is fast approaching and with it so to my whirlwind introduction to this town. It has been fantastic to meet and talk to so many of you in the last few weeks and I look forward to meeting many more locals.
Do not hesitate to contact me at the office on 6344 1846 or pop in on a Monday or Tuesday. If you have any stories, past or present that are of interest to the Canowindra community I would love to cover them so do get in touch. Be sure to get your end of year or Christmas news to me via email at editor@canowindraphoenix.com.au or in person by Monday 3pm.
This week we have had Santa in the office answering questions. It was good of him to take time out of his hectic schedule to man the email and answer kids’ burning questions. He will be back at it next week so get your questions in via my email address or send a message through our Facebook page. Let’s see if we can stump him!
Despite a cold snap this week the weather is warming up and I’ve been reminded to be conscious of how hot cars can get, particularly for children, the elderly and animals. We are as always on alert for possible bushfires with Council urging residents to have a bush fire plan ready to put into action.
With harvest not yet over, residents are also being urged to be aware of heavy machinery on roads and exercise caution.
And lastly, but always top on most minds in the lead up to Christmas, please continue to remain vigilant about the spread of COVID-19 by following social distancing laws and practising good hand hygiene.
Your Editor,
Verity Middleton
