Wolfgang Shumann started his upholstery business over 26 years ago in Orange, firstly working out of a shed at the back of his house and then moving into the current premises some 3 years later.

Wolfgang started his apprenticeship with Bathurst Upholstery,  he has also taught upholstery with Adult Education in both Bathurst and Orange for over 7 years, and is now full time in his own business.

As well as residential work, covering chairs and lounges, Wolfgang has built and covered a lot of the seats and booths that you sit in when eating out at the coffee houses in and around Orange.

Wolfgang has advised,’ if you are in the market for a new look lounge, then the best way to do this is to take photos and come in and see me with thoughts on what design you would like.  I have over 2500 samples of fabrics from all of the major suppliers.’ After the full appraisal, Wolfgang will then provide you with a written quote and a timeframe for how long it will take to cover the lounge.    A deposit is then taken to cover the cost of the fabric and once he is ready to start, Wolfgang will call you to deliver the lounge to the workshop.

‘For a three seater lounge, with two chairs, it would normally take a week to recover.     Fabric prices start from as low as $36 a metre.    If it is a quality lounge, this represents very good value to recover however with something that is a cheaper make, it is sometimes more affordable to just buy a new lounge.’       Wolfgang went on to say, ‘ in relation to a warranty, if there is a problem with any of the workmanship, which is very rare, I will repair it for free, no matter how long ago the work was done.’
