Flickerfest 2026: 35th International Short Film Festival On Tour At Rosnay Organic Cellar Door

8 April, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Flickerfest Short Film Festival On Tour returns to Rosnay Organic Cellar Door on Thursday 16 April.

Flickerfest is thrilled to be back in Canowindra for 2026 bringing the magic of cinema from across Australia in our much loved Best Of Australian Shorts programme, screening at the Rosnay Vineyard Cellar Door, Thursday 16 April.

Flickerfest celebrates 35 years in 2026 and is proud to be Australia’s most respected Short film festival. This year’s programme includes 9 incredible Australian short films handpicked from a record of over 3,700 entries received for Flickerfest’s Oscar and BAFTA Qualifying short film festival and promises to delight Canowindra audiences with the most creative, inspiring and entertaining shorts on offer, including audience favourites and award winners screening alongside exciting, fresh local talent.

Celebrate the incredible short film talent that exists in our emerging Australian industry with a host of Australian stories honouring our unique identity and culture with our Best Of Australian Shorts programme.

This year’s Flickerfest collection of stunning Australian shorts is supported by big names both in front of and behind the camera. Moving drama Tuesday Tuesday, which won best female director at Flickerfest 2026 stars Peter Phelps (Stingers) in a stellar performance as a man whose world is fading. Whilst Packed Away gives us the directorial debut of actress Michala Banas (Always Greener, Mcleod’s Daughters) who shines both on and off camera in this personal and intimate drama starring herself and her father John.

Actor Matt Day (Rake) writes and directs the comedy Baby Shower starring the legendary Hugo Weaving in a dark comedy about family friendship and unexpected happenings at this familiar ritual, whilst the fun romp Writers In Love is a delightful comedy about two writers whose romantic entanglement causes them to reassess their love with hilarious consequences.

Come and join fellow film lovers for an unforgettable experience, celebrating the magic of short films with great company, delicious Rosnay Organic wines, and woodfired pizza. Doors open at 5.45pm for preshow drinks, so arrive early, relax, and soak up the warm atmosphere of the Rosnay Cellar before the films light up the screen at 7pm.
