First Choice “Your Local” Credit Union

16 May, 2018 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Originally known as Calare Credit Union, First Choice Credit Union (FCCU) was formed in 1970 by staff from Canobolas, Boree and Molong Shires (now Cabonne Shire Council) and Orange City Council.

Having a Credit Union allowed the employees of council to pool their funds together to provide loans to other members at a time when it was hard to get a loan from a bank. Over the years the bond has been extended to include all residents of New South Wales and FCCU now has 4,000 members.

First Choice Credit Union has long prided itself on the reputation as a community invested, customer service focused financial institution. At FCCU, they strive to maintain this reputation by providing members with the best of all worlds, with quality, friendly, face to face service in conjunction with the very latest in technological services.

A credit union is a customer owned banking institution where account holders are members, and each member holds an equal share in the Credit Union regardless of their balance. This entitles all customers to be involved in votes for directors and have a say in how the Credit Union is run.

Credit Unions offer a wide choice of Savings Accounts, Term Deposits, Visa cards, Online and Mobile Banking, Home Loans, Personal Loans, Investment and Commercial Loans, Business Banking together with all the related services including BPAY, direct debit and direct credit, chequing, cash passports and much more.

As well as striving to provide value for money products in a way that makes them easy to do business with, credit unions do not pay dividends to shareholders. That means all profits are available for investment in better products and services or in community sponsorships and giving. All of this keeps money in the local area, supporting local people.

FCCU has agencies in Canowindra, Molong, Manildra and Cudal, staffed by local members of your communities, and have continued to show support to the people the banks have abandoned.
