Whether it’s on a sports pitch, in the office or just in our day to day lives, our bodies get a battering…especially our backs. The most common ailments Dr Adam Wild and his team see at Aligned are neck and back pain, migraines and headaches.
When treating a patient, it’s important to first get an accurate diagnosis and discover factors that might make the condition worse. To find out how the problem came about they complete a detailed physical assessment. For example, a woman in her 60’s is suffering from lower back pain which is affecting her quality of life in that she struggles to pick up her grandkids. Adam would look for red flags like cancer and inflammatory conditions and would want to know if there are any neurological conditions like pinching on the nerves. If the pain is higher up it could be affecting the spinal cord, “you’ve got to know what’s going on otherwise you’re shooting in the dark” says Adam. “Many people want a quick fix. As a doctor it’s important for me to discover what the problem is and try to reverse the damage rather than offering relief which would only help in the short term.”
Aligned has been operating in Canowindra for a year and a half and Adam has now opened up another clinic in Grenfell which is going well. “We don’t even have a sign up there at the moment so all the patients who come are either there by word of mouth or referrals, it’s very humbling” says Adam, who graduated in 2010 following a double degree and masters, “I’m passionate about what I do so it’s wonderful when you get a community response.”
