An exciting new little shop opened its doors to Canowindra last week. The Handmade Emporium is the brainchild of Fiona Ferguson and her business partner Wendy Morrow, who decided to promote their wares after building Scrap Box Patchwork Designs, a small but lively pattern business. Scrap Box Pattern Designs is primarily web based and uses social media to promote a wider audience. “We attended a few markets last year and began to attend fair trade events in regional NSW, the South Coast and more recently Sydney” Fiona said;
“Small home based businesses have a difficult time getting their name into the public arena.” The idea of developing the shop was floated around for a while with the intention of creating a central place for local providers of high quality handmade goods. “The Handmade Emporium hosts small businesses from Canowindra, Cowra, Orange, Forbes and Parkes. The shop offers a wonderful mix of amazing things, I’m really happy with the display and quality of products” Fiona said.
The launch on Friday was well attended and the first couple of trading days have seen lots of interest, so much so Fiona and her partner have had to re-order a few products and take orders for specific items. “The feedback from our customers has been excellent” Fiona said. We wish Handmade Emporium all the best in their new venture.
