Works by some of Cabonne’s emerging and most noted artists will be on display this week when the inaugural Cabonne Acquisitive Art Prize exhibition opens in Molong.
The exhibition opens at the Molong RSL Club in Riddell Street on Saturday 14th March 2020 and runs until the following Saturday 21st March 2020. Everyone is invited to visit the exhibition and the function to announce the Art Prize winners on Thursday March 19th, free of charge.
The winner of the major award, will receive $4,250, while a Peo- ple’s Choice award will be worth $1,000. There will also be $500 for the winning high school entry and $250 for a primary school prize. With the major prizemoney, the Council will purchase the winning artwork in the acquisitive section each year.
Chairperson of the Art Prize Working Party Cr Libby Oldham said the Art Prize will enable Council to acquire and exhibit quality works, which showcase the talents of artists in the Shire, as well as fostering a sense of identity, pride and place in Cabonne.
“I’m sure that when you view the exhibition, you will agree we have received a diverse entry of quality works for this first Cabonne Acquisitive Art Prize,” she said.
While the Cabonne Acquisitive Art Prize will be judged by industry professionals, everyone will have the opportunity to be a judge by casting their vote for the People’s Choice Award. Visitors can vote for their favourite work by making a gold coin contribution at the exhibition.
The exhibition will be open from noon until 5pm on Saturday 14th March and Sunday 15th March, 3pm to 5pm on Monday 16th March and Tuesday 17th March and from noon to 5pm from Wednesday 18th March through to Saturday 21st March.
