After the cancellation of Eugowra’s Mural Weekend in 2020, the event is back on this weekend at Apex Pioneer Park.
Following the cancellation of last year’s event due to COVID, Eugowra’s mural committee are excited to announce that the Mural Weekend is returning this weekend.
The 9th annual Mural Weekend will be held from Friday, 7 to Sunday, 9 May, with artists completing three fantastic new murals. Murals are being designed for the Eugowra Memorial Hospital and the Eugowra Rugby League Club. If time allows, a mural featuring the old Eugowra post office and John, Eugowra’s “singing postie” will be added.
The Rugby League Club mural will celebrate the centenary of the club and the hospital mural will display the original CWA hospital, past staff, as well as the Soldiers’ War Memorial Hospital building which has been demolished.
This will make for a busy few days for the artists and signwriters. The murals will be painted in Apex Pioneer Park on the banks of the Mandagery Creek. The markets are making a return on Saturday morning from 9am to 1pm, under the watch of the Eugowra Evening VIEW club. Over 20 stalls will be in the park alongside the mural painting, with a coffee van and plenty of quality hand-made goods and food. Eugowra’s CWA ladies will be providing delicious homecooked treats for the artists.
Many of the artists and signwriters have been involved since the event’s inception in 2012. Thanks to the Mural Weekend, Eugowra has become famous for original, Australian murals and the town now welcomes visitors keen to see the unique art.
Cabonne Council is throwing its weight behind the event, contributing $10,000 for promotion of the 2021 and 2022 Mural Weekends, a move which drew praise from the committee who thanked them for their ongoing support.
