Emma Grey in action during the T102 at the Tarawera Ultra-Trail running event in New Zealand last weekend.
Last Saturday, 14 February Canowindra’s very own ultra-trail runner Emma Grey ran 102km in the Tarawera Ultra-Trail, New Zealand’s Premier Ultra-Trail running event.
Emma was the 11th female across the finish line, completing the course in an incredible time of 11 hours and 7 minutes. A total of 282 females entered the race, with many not completing the gruelling course.
Emma described the conditions of the course as horrendous, being very wet and muddy, which undoubtedly made it quite trteacherous and even more challenging to complete.
Tarawera is a UTMB World Series event, with the T102 returning to a point-to-point course in 2026, starting in Kawerau and finishing in Rotorua. The trail takes in 5 stunning lakes, with competitors running through native bush on the Western Okataina track, the towering redwoods and steam alongside the trail at Sulphur Point.
Congratulations to Emma on this amazing accomplishment!
