Emerging Indigenous Artist Reece George To Exhibit “mardu: One Of Us” At Rosnay Organic Wines

Rosnay Organic Wines is excited to announce an upcoming exhibition of contemporary Indigenous art by the rapidly rising artist Reece George. The exhibition will be held from Saturday, June 7th, to Sunday, July 27th, 2025, providing locals and visitors a wonderful opportunity to experience the compelling storytelling and fresh artistic perspective of one of Australia’s most exciting new talents.

Reece George, a contemporary painter based in Woodstock, NSW, is quickly gaining recognition for his distinctive style that blends Indigenous Australian storytelling with a bold, modern aesthetic. His works feature stylised animals, including dingoes, birds, and rabbits, often adorned with sunglasses and intricate patterns. George’s paintings are characterised by rich textures, a striking colour palette of earthy ochres, deep blacks, and bright oranges, and an intuitive use of dot and line work that pays homage to Indigenous artistic traditions.

“At the heart of my practice is a playful yet deeply cultural exploration of identity, community, and connection to the land,”

says George. “My paintings are invitations to see through my eyes, to feel the pulse of the land, and to connect with stories that are both deeply personal and universally human.”

Building on that sense of shared experience, George explains that the word “mardu” means “person” in the Martu language — but it carries a deeper meaning: “we are connected, you are one of us, we share together.”

The exhibition will officially open with a special afternoon tea event on Sunday, 8 June at 2pm at Rosnay Organic Wines. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artist, hear firsthand about his inspirations and techniques, and enjoy a complimentary afternoon tea and a glass of Rosnay Organic Wine.
