Dorset Championship On This Weekend

15 June, 2016 By editor

20160421_161817

The 2016 NSW Dorset Championship is fast approaching, with a pleasing number of entries from across New South Wales. This is the 30th year of the historic Championships, which will be held in Cowra and consist of top quality Poll Dorset and Dorset Horn sheep on exhibition.

This celebratory year is seeing an increased interest from various sponsors and donors, including Bromar Engineering who are the Supreme Exhibit Sponsor and are generously supplying a lick feeder. McClintock Machinery have secured the Mixed Pair Trophy and are donating a Kubota lawn mower as the prize. Clipex Sheep Handling Equipment are also a new addition to the sponsor group.

Chief Steward Roger Traves said; “We’d like to thank all our sponsors and donors for their interest and generous contributions to this prestigious event of showing the best Dorset sheep in NSW. We’re expecting 180 to 200 sheep at this year’s event from approximately 20 exhibitors.” The event is not only a way to showcase the quality of breeds, it also has a great social aspect where breeders and families from all over New South Wales can enjoy fellowship on the day and has a reputation as one of the friendliest shows held in the calendar year.

“We are looking forward to a great show of Dorset sheep and reminiscing on our history where we can see the development of both the Dorset Horn and Poll Dorset Breeds,” said Roger Traves. The 2016 NSW Dorset Championships will be held on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th June, concluding at lunch.” The quality of all sheep present at the Cowra Dorset shows is testament to the breeders and working committees. We hope to see all interested persons come along and enjoy our show” said Roger. Bookings for the NSW Dorset Championship Dinner can be made by contacting Cowra Show Society secretary Christie on 6342 1977.
