Cabonne Mayor Ian Gosper is urging Canowindra businesses to light up Christmas this year by lighting up their shops, announcing the council will sponsor a Christmas window decoration competition for the town’s traders.
The council will offer three $500 prizes, with $500 going to each of the three shops which are judged to have the best displays. The prizes will be in the form of vouchers to be spent at Canowindra businesses of the winners’ choice.
“We want to add some colour to Christmas this year and encourage Canowindra shop owners to dress up their windows,” Cr Gosper said.
“By offering the prizes in the form of vouchers we will see the prizemoney recirculated in the town.”
While the winners will be judged by council representatives in the week before Christmas, the council is keen to get feedback from residents about who they believe has the best displays.
“Contact council on 6392 3200, email us on firstname.lastname@example.org or go to our Facebook page to let us know which display you like best. We would love to hear from you, so make sure you check out all the window decorations before Christmas.”
The competition is open to all Canowindra businesses – all they have to do is decorate their premises to be eligible for judging.
