An impressive 115 dancers converged on Canowindra last weekend for the annual 12 hour dance event.
The dance floor at the Canowindra Services Club Hall was absolutely electric over the weekend as the town hosted its annual 12-Hour Dance.
Gail Davis and Graham Aylen work tirelessly to bring this event together each year, and the dance has officially cemented itself as a must-attend fixture on the calendar, drawing an impressive crowd of 115 passionate dancers—an increase from the 2025 event.
Anticipation was sky-high from the very beginning, with organisers opening the doors to a crowd of over 50 eager dancers waiting outside before the music even started. Dancers traveled from far and wide to participate, with attendees arriving from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and all across Western Sydney, the Central West, Tarcutta, and Batlow.
The crowd was treated to a wonderful mix of Rock ‘n’ Roll and predominantly New Vogue dancing. Keepers of the rhythm Phil Redenbach and Barry Whitty provided the music, while the charismatic Doug Moorby traveled from Dubbo to keep the energy going as the day’s 12-Hour long MC. The hall itself looked sensational, thanks to beautiful table decorations set by Megan Milton from Edellen Flowers.
The dance’s success is a significant win for local tourism, injecting vibrant energy into Canowindra’s accommodation, local shops, and eateries as visitors explored the town.
