The Canowindra Branch of the CWA has been successful in obtaining grant funding to turn the Canowindra CWA Hall into a multipurpose work space, for any person who requires a facility to carry out their work or work associated duties.
Introduced by Jan Kerr, State Vice President of the NSW CWA, at the luncheon hosted for the Governor of NSW, Canowindra CWA member, Fiona Ferguson, discussed the importance for the community of Canowindra, for the CWA to be awarded the grant.
“We will be able to offer a private room for counselling or a medical practitioner, or somebody that visits or needs total privacy, and the main hall, will be divided into three spaces with sliding partitions, modern modular furniture along with ergonomic chairs, so people can walk in, sit down and have an office,” Fiona explains.
“These people can be travellers, people from other communities, they can even just be someone who needs a work space for a short period of time. The NBN has also been connected, which brings us up into the modern world. The CWA Hall has never had that facility before, and all of the furniture is collapsible and can be stored away, so functions can still happen in the hall.”
Canowindra will be the first CWA branch in NSW to unveil the work space initiative. Work is commencing on the project in the near future, and an official opening will take place when the project is complete.
