Canowindra CWA members on their 100 year anniversary float during the Canowindra Balloon Festival street parade.
The Canowindra Branch of CWA is holding a celebratory luncheon for their Centenary year on 25th May, at the Canowindra Bowling Club, from 12pm – 3pm.
The luncheon will of course feature delicious food, with Jo Robson taking care of the catering, and will also host a guest speaker Dr Ros Bullock. Entertainment will be provided by two young musicians, who are recipients of a musical scholarship that the Canowindra Branch of the CWA facilitates for young people to go and learn music at the Conservatorium of Music, in Orange.
“We are holding the luncheon to celebrate the fact that this branch in Canowindra was established 100 years ago and has been going strong ever since. This branch in particular, and being a part of the CWA is all about friendship and community and bringing that together,” Cathy Smith, President of the Canowindra Branch of the CWA explains.
When speaking on the diversity of their membership-base, Bev Taylor, Secretary of the Canowindra Branch of the CWA, who has been a member for over 13 years says, “Our youngest member is currently in her mid 20’s, and our oldest member is in the senior 80’s, so we have working people, retired people, young mums with busy families and the CWA is relevant to all ages groups.”
