Canowindra A Grade hosted Morongla for the John Guthrie Cup. Cano won the toss and elected to bat, opening with Ben Schaefer and Brendan Traves. They got Canowindra off to a great start with an opening partnership of 86 before Brendan was dismissed for 30 in the 10th over.
Matt Harrison continued with Ben Schaefer until he fell with 83. Jac Devlin and left hand batsman Matt Harrison put on 14 runs in 3 overs with Canowindra going to drinks after the 20th 3-147 . Together Jac Devlin and Matt steadied the side with 40 more runs. Pat Kennedy, Jj, N Traves, Tim Star and Nick Daily continued with Canowindra posting a final score of 240. It was then Morongla’s turn to bat, and Canowindra’s Brendan Traves got the first break. Nick Traves was next to strike with the ball in the 7th over, followed by Ben Schaefer in the 12th over. Connor Crook and Sam McNaught put together a strong partnership of 84 runs in just 8 overs and put Morongla in a good position to win 3-170 at drinks after 20 overs.
After drinks, Canowindra’s leggy G. Singh got the big wicket of S. McNaught 84 and then Connor Crook 76. Canowindra put the pressure on Morongla which saw a massive collapse losing their last 6 wickets for just 25 runs, bowled out for 236 giving the win to Canowindra with just 4 runs . Ben Schaefer was man of the match, and the result puts Canowindra top of the ladder.
